How to Download IPTV Smarters Pro on a Firestick

If you have searched for IPTV Smarters Pro on a Fire TV Stick, you have probably found a dozen guides that all skip the part where it goes wrong. This one covers the actual sequence, why the stick asks for a permission most guides get in the wrong order, and which players we set up for you.

The short answer

A Fire TV Stick cannot install IPTV Smarters Pro, or any player of that kind, straight from the Amazon Appstore. You install a small free app called Downloader first, grant it one permission, and use it to fetch the player. Four steps, about ten minutes, and nothing on the stick is modified permanently.

What you need before you start

Four things, and it is worth checking all of them now rather than halfway through:

• A Fire TV Stick, any generation, connected to your telly and to wifi.
• Your Televo details. These arrive by WhatsApp after you subscribe and are what you type into the player at the end.
• The stick's remote. There is no way round the on-screen keyboard, so allow a couple of minutes for typing.
• About ten minutes of not being interrupted, because the permission step is easy to lose your place in.

Why the Fire TV Stick needs an extra step at all

Fire OS is Android underneath, but Amazon curates what appears in its store. Player apps of this kind are not in it, so they arrive by sideloading, which is the ordinary Android mechanism for installing an app from somewhere other than the store.

This is a standard Fire OS setting that Amazon exposes deliberately. Nothing here roots the stick, replaces its software, or changes anything you cannot undo by switching the same setting back off.

Step 1: Install Downloader

Downloader is free and comes from Amazon's own store, so nothing needs unlocking to get it.

From the Fire TV home screen, open the Amazon Appstore and search for Downloader. It is the one with the orange icon. Install it, then come back to the home screen without opening it yet.

Step 2: Give Downloader permission to install apps

This is where most guides send you wrong, and the order is the whole problem.

Older guides tell you to enable the unknown-sources permission first and install Downloader afterwards. In our experience that order now fails on recent sticks, because the permission is granted to a named app rather than as one global switch, so Downloader has to exist on the stick before there is anything to grant it to. Installing Downloader first, as in Step 1, avoids the dead end.

Amazon's own developer documentation gives the route to the setting: Developer Options sits under Settings, then Device or My Fire TV, and on some software versions it appears only after pressing the D-pad seven times on Settings, My Fire TV, About, then your device name (Amazon Fire TV developer documentation).

So: open Settings, then My Fire TV, then About. Highlight your Fire TV Stick's name and press the select button seven times in a row. A countdown appears, then a message confirming you now have Developer Options. Go back one screen, open Developer Options, and look for Apps from Unknown Sources. On recent Fire OS it is called Install unknown apps instead: open it, find Downloader in the list, and switch it on for Downloader specifically.

If Developer Options does not appear, repeat the seven presses on the device name. They only count when they are consecutive, and they stay hidden until you finish them.

Step 3: Install your player

Open Downloader and you will see a field for a code or a web address.

The three players we set up directly are IBO Player, TiviMate and ELK Player. Any one of them will do, and there is no benefit to installing all three.

Each one installs from its own short code typed into that field. Our setup guide carries the current codes and keeps them up to date, which is why they live there rather than here: a code that has changed is worse than no code at all.

If you had IPTV Smarters Pro in mind specifically, ask us before you sideload it. We would rather tell you plainly whether it fits your subscription than have you spend twenty minutes on a player and find out at the activation screen.

Step 4: Enter your details and start watching

Open the player you installed. It will ask for a name for the connection, which can be anything you like, and then for the details we sent you.

Type them exactly as they appear, including any capital letters. Most failures at this screen are a mistyped character rather than anything wrong with the subscription, and the on-screen keyboard makes that easy to do.

If something does not work

Developer Options will not appear. Go back to About and press the select button on the device name seven times again. The presses have to be consecutive, and a pause resets the count.

Downloader will not install the app. Check the permission from Step 2. It is per app on current Fire OS, so granting it to a different app does not help. Open Install unknown apps again and confirm Downloader itself is switched on.

The player opens but nothing loads. Retype your details rather than assuming they are wrong. A single wrong character produces exactly this, and it looks identical to a subscription problem.

Common questions

Does this work on a Fire TV Stick bought outside the UK?

Yes. Sticks sold in the UK, Canada and the US run the same Fire OS and the same Amazon Appstore, so the steps and the codes do not change. What differs is the plug and the remote's voice button, and neither affects any of this.

Will this slow the stick down?

Installing one player will not. What slows a Fire TV Stick down is a full storage drive and a long list of background apps, so it is worth removing anything you have stopped using.

Can I do the same thing on a Roku?

No, and there is no setting that unlocks it. Roku only accepts approved channels from its own store and has no equivalent of Downloader or Developer Options. This is not a limit on your account.

The way round it is a second device on the same telly. A Fire TV Stick is the cheapest one that works, and an Android TV box does the same job. Both plug into a spare HDMI port, so the Roku stays where it is and you switch input to watch. Our setup guide covers the devices we support.

Do I need to repeat this on a second stick?

Yes, once per device. The steps are the same each time, and your details do not change.
